MOLDS
Molds can be found almost anywhere. Molds can grow on almost any organic substance as long as oxygen and moisture are present. When excessive moisture accumulates on buildings, building materials or structures, mold growth will often occur, particularly if the moisture problem remains undiscovered or unaddressed. It is impossible to eliminate all mold and mold spores in the indoor environment. However, mold growth can be controlled indoors by controlling indoor moisture.
Molds reproduce by making spores. These spores usually cannot be seen without magnification. Mold spores waft through the air continuously indoors and outdoors . When mold spores land on a damp spot indoors, they may begin growing and digesting whatever they are growing on in order to survive. Molds gradually destroy the things they grow on.
Many types of molds exist and all molds have the potential to cause health effects. Molds can produce allergens that can trigger allergic reactions or even asthma attacks in people allergic to mold. Others are known to produce potent toxins and/or irritants. Potential health concerns are an important reason to prevent mold growth and to have a qualified Mold Remediation Specialist clean up any existing indoor mold growth. When mold growth occurs in buildings, adverse health problems may be reported by some building occupants, particularly those with allergies or respiratory problems. The most common molds found in homes are Alternaria, Amerospores, Ascospores, Aspergillus/Penicillium, Aurobasidium, Aetomium, Cladosporidium, Fusarium, Memnoniella, Pithomyces/Ulocladium and Stachybotrys. Extreme caution should be used to prevent mold and mold spores from being dispersed throughout the air where they can be inhaled by home or building occupants.
Millions of microscopic mold spores are easily transported in the air we breathe. This exposure has been medically proven to directly cause serious illness in adults and especially in children. It is estimated that over 30 percent of us are allergic to mold and suffer adverse health effects because of mold. Therefore, the EPA strongly recommends hiring a Professional Mold Specialist to thoroughly and effectively remove toxic mold spores before the problem worsens and becomes a serious health risk. Mold is identified visually on many surfaces, but what you don't see is the danger that lurks behind the walls.
